Yesterday we showed you that the ordinance to rezone Oakwood was deliberately introduced as an emergency in order to prohibit citizens from bringing a referendum against it.
The reason for the emergency passage is stated on the ordinance:
The emergency was that the city needed green space.
For the year before First Interstate bought Oakwood, Citizens for Oakwood was working with the Trust for Public Land to buy the property and transfer it to Metroparks.
The City of South Euclid officials were aware of our efforts and did absolutely nothing to help preserve Oakwood. A council member attended and participated in some of our meetings.
So, the ordinance to rezone Oakwood from residential to commercial in order to build big box retail on 40 acres was passed as an emergency in order to acquire public green space.
First Interstate was manipulative in its dealings with the residents of South Euclid from the very beginning.
How can we trust them to deal fairly with the residents and our community in the future?
The ordinance is attached.
Please tell all your friends to vote NO ON 96!
